India to soon overtake US for Nokia


By 2010, India will replace the US as Nokia's second-largest market in the world after China. Currently, China is Nokia's largest global market followed by the US and then India, according to Mr Sunil Dutt, Director Sales (CMO Sales & Marketing APAC), Nokia India Pvt Ltd.

Addressing a news conference held here on Monday to announce the launch of the Nokia 6300 "slim" handset in India, Mr Dutt said the volumes in the Indian market were growing and India was on course to replace the US as Nokia's second-largest market in India.

The Nokia 6300 has a stainless steel frame, an ergonomic keymat and several features such as a 2 megapixel camera with zoom, built-in MP3 player and FM radio. Priced at Rs 12,999 (MRP), the Nokia 6300 has a talk-time of up to 3.5 hours and standby time of up to 14 days.
