Will the BlackBerry World Edition 8830 work on a CDMA network or on a GSM network? |
 |
The BlackBerry World Edition 8830 will work on a CDMA network in India and also in countries where a CDMA data roaming partner network exists. In all other countries it will latch on to a GSM 900/1800 MHz network.
It will work on a CDMA network in India only and outside India it will work on a CDMA or GSM network depending on availability. For facilitating this, a global SIM is being provided along with the BlackBerry World Edition 8830. |

Post International Roaming activation request given to the customer care – the customer needs to download the preferred roaming list ( PRL ) on your handset by sending “PRL“ as an SMS to 53733 and then dialing *228. This process will enable the customers to roam on CDMA partner networks. Please note PRL should be downloaded at least 24 hours before departure. |

How to select the GSM/CDMA network? |
 |
Go to Applications (BlackBerry icon) on the menu, choose options and then mobile network, then go to network mode & choose GSM for GSM and 1xEV for CDMA. In case you choose global, the phone will be on automatic selection mode. However please ensure that a data roaming GSM partner is chosen and a capital GPRS / 1X EV indication appears.

How to Dial Net Connect while Roaming ?

To dial Net connect while roaming on GPRS networks, you need to dial *99# and use MDN@relcomm.com as username and MDN as password.
For CDMA, continue to use #777 and MDN@relcomm.com as username and MDN as password.
MDN is the 10 digit Reliance Mobile number starting with 93. |

What are the charges for Data Roaming in CDMA Network? |

Customers will be charged Rs.5.37 per 10KB of usage for Verizon, USA
The above mentioned tariff is in Indian Rupees and is indicative & subject to change without notice by the visited operator.
Call forward charges from India to roaming country will apply in case of incoming calls.
Tariff mentioned above is exclusive of 'surcharge', currently at 15% of the total usage and service tax.
The above mentioned tariff is exclusive of VAT and other taxes chargeable by the visited operator.
Actual call rates is subject to change and updated rates will be available in website.

No, On activation of International Roaming as per Business Rules, both Voice and Data Roaming will be activated by default for all the customers. Existing IR customers will be able to use Data as well while roaming abroad. |

Do’s & Don’ts while you are on International Roaming |

Please check whether you have taken your SIM card – which was provided with your handheld at the time of the purchase and insert the same in your handheld so as to avoid loss or misplacement. |

Please download the PRL at least 24 hours before departure by sending “PRL“ as an SMS to 53733 and then dialing *228. |

Please check with the Customer care on 0091-22-30336363 on the activation status of your international roaming. If no – please put in the request and get the same activated. |
|
Please remember the URL http://www.blackberry.reliancemobile.com/webapp/Communications/blackberry/cdma_roaming.jsp and please carry a printout of the partner networks of all the places you wish to travel while on international roaming. |

Once you reach the destination country – switch on your handheld; check whether the radio is on, battery is charged fully. |

Please click on Applications (BlackBerry icon) & then the Options icon (it would resemble a Screw driver icon) on your handheld, you shall get a list of options, on the options – please Click on Network. |

In the network mode – please change to GSM or 1XEV – as per the destination countries network presence. (Typically in USA – the network is CDMA hence click on 1X-EV, most European countries have GSM networks – in case of these countries – Click on GSM) |

In case you do not get “GPRS “or “1XEV” then please click on Applications (BlackBerry icon), then the Options icon (it would resemble a Screw driver icon) on your handheld, you shall get a list of options, on the options – please Click on Mobile Network. Once you click on Mobile Network – Please check the Network selection mode. In the network select mode after you change to manual – you shall then see a list of networks which would be listed under the Network selection mode. Click on one of them – as per the name of the network given in the website or on the list carried by you. |
